• There’s a rule for posting: you can’t put chosen candidates in their home districts. Also, once someone is assigned to a location, they have to stay for at least five years before they can move to a different one.

These conditions are particularly important because simply meeting the basic age and educational qualification does not by itself establish final eligibility. Certificate verification is carried out later in the recruitment process, and eligibility for the online examination remains provisional.

The MP Police Constable Vacancy 2026 includes 7,500 Constable (GD) posts.These vacancies are divided into two cadres rather than being advertised under a single common pool. A preference, however, should not be read as a guarantee of a particular posting: allocation is linked to merit, preference, and departmental requirements, and selected candidates are not to be posted in their home district.

The application and correction windows do not close on the same day. Candidates get additional time for corrections after the online application period ends,while the examination is proposed to begin in November. 

Which Date Matters for Eligibility

October 6, 2026,is the application deadline. But it’s also the date used to check if you meet the age requirements. You also need to have your eligibility certificates ready by this date.

This is important because even though you can make corrections to your application until October 11, 2026, that doesn’t change the eligibility cut-off date. The rules clearly state October 6th is the important date for those requirements.

As for the exam,November 19, 2026, is just a proposed date. Notification says the exam is expected to begin around then,not that everyone will take it on that specific day.

Eligibility for the MP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 cannot be determined from educational qualification alone.Notification separately deals with citizenship, qualification, domicile-related benefits and other conditions that candidates must satisfy. Most importantly, the required educational qualification is not the same for every category.

Can Candidates From Other States Apply?

Yes. Madhya Pradesh domicile is not compulsory merely to submit an application, but it changes the benefits a candidate can claim.

Candidates who are not permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh can apply only against Unreserved Open vacancies. They cannot claim reservation or the age-relaxation benefits available on the basis of MP domicile. For such candidates, the maximum age specified as on 6 October 2026 is 33 years. 

In other words, being eligible to apply from another state and being eligible for Madhya Pradesh reservation benefits are two different things.

Other Eligibility Conditions Candidates Should Check

The recruitment rules specify that an applicant must be an Indian citizen. They also require the candidate to possess the relevant certificates supporting age, education and other claimed eligibility conditions by 6 October 2026. Original documents are to be produced later during document examination associated with the physical stage.
There is another condition that can easily be overlooked: candidates for these posts must have a live registration with an employment office in Madhya Pradesh.

For serving government employees, prior permission from the competent appointing authority is required to appear in the recruitment process. The notification also contains separate conditions for Home Guards, Ex-Servicemen and candidates seeking specific relaxations; these should be checked against the category actually being claimed rather than treated as general eligibility for everyone.

Eligibility Is Provisional at the Written Exam Stage

MPESB does not verify every eligibility certificate while the online application is being submitted. The notification states that eligibility for appearing in the computer-based examination remains provisional, with the relevant department carrying out certificate scrutiny during the appointment/recruitment process.

So, successfully submitting the form or being allowed to take the written examination should not be treated as confirmation of final eligibility.

MP Police Constable Age Limit 2026

For the MP Police Constable Recruitment 2026, the minimum age is 18 years,while the upper age limit varies according to domicile, category, gender and certain relaxation provisions. Age is calculated with reference to 6 October 2026.

Age Relaxation: What Candidates Should Not Miss

Candidates from outside Madhya Pradesh should pay particular attention to the domicile rule. Even if they belong to SC, ST, OBC or another reserved category in their home state, the notification does not provide them the upper-age relaxation available to eligible Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates. Their maximum age for this recruitment remains 33 years.

The rulebook also contains specific relaxation provisions for Vikram Award holders, eligible inter-caste marriage candidates and Ex-Servicemen. Where more than one incentive-based age relaxation could apply, the benefits are not simply added together; the candidate receives the applicable relaxation that is more beneficial under the stated rules.

Ex-Servicemen have separate age-adjustment conditions in the notification, so their eligibility should be calculated under those provisions rather than using the general category table alone.

MP Police Constable Application Fee 2026

The MP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 application fee has two components in the official rulebook: the MPESB examination fee and the departmental examination fee. Candidates using the MPOnline portal may also have to pay the applicable portal charge.

MP Police Constable Selection Process 2026

The MP Police Constable Selection Process 2026 is conducted in two main stages. The first stage is the written examination, while the second stage covers the Physical Efficiency Test and document examination. One point makes this selection process especially important to understand: physical efficiency marks are included in the final merit calculation rather than the PET being only a pass/fail test. 

How Candidates Reach the Physical Test

After the written examination, candidates are shortlisted for the second stage on the basis of the prescribed cut-off percentile. The notification provides for calling candidates up to seven times the number of vacancies in the relevant vertical category for the physical stage.

This seven-times figure is not necessarily an absolute cap. If multiple candidates are placed at the same cut-off percentile, all candidates at that percentile can be included even when this takes the number beyond the stated ratio.

Another useful detail is that the rulebook specifies the same cut-off percentile for SAF and non-SAF posts at this shortlisting stage. A separate cut-off is not prepared for horizontal reservation categories for this purpose.

PET Is Not Just a Qualifying Test

This is one of the most important parts of the MP Police Constable selection process. Candidates need to obtain at least 30 marks out of 100 in the Physical Efficiency Test,but merely crossing that minimum does not make every qualifying candidate equal.

The actual marks scored in the PET are added to the marks obtained in the written examination for preparation of the final merit list. 

For example, two candidates with similar written-exam scores can end up with different combined scores because of their PET performance. Candidates therefore have a reason to aim beyond the minimum qualifying level in the physical events.

Document Verification Also Matters

Candidates appearing in the physical stage are required to produce their original documents for verification. This is where claims made in the online application—such as educational qualification, category, age relaxation and other applicable eligibility benefits—are checked against the required certificates.

This is also why admission to the written examination should not be confused with final acceptance of eligibility. The notification treats eligibility at the online examination stage as provisional.

MP Police Constable Exam Pattern 2026

The first stage of the MP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 is a written examination carrying 100 marks. The paper consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions and is conducted in Hindi.Candidates get two hours to complete the examination.

The 100 marks are divided among three areas. General Knowledge and Logical Knowledge carry the largest individual share of the paper.

MP Police Constable Physical Standards 2026

Candidates shortlisted for the second stage must satisfy the prescribed physical measurement standards in addition to performing in the Physical Efficiency Test. The standards are not identical for SAF and non-SAF Constable GD posts, so candidates should check the table that applies to their chosen cadre. 

Physical Standard for SAF (GD)

The SAF (GD) vacancies in this recruitment are available only to male candidates.

Physical Standards for Other than SAF – DEF (GD)

For male candidates where chest measurement applies, the required difference between the unexpanded and expanded chest measurement is at least 5 cm. The recruitment rules do not provide relaxation in the prescribed physical measurements.

Physical Standards for Transgender Candidates

The notification also deals specifically with transgender applicants. It places transgender candidates under the OBC category and states that appointment against male or female posts will be considered according to the gender mentioned in the Certificate of Identity issued by the District Magistrate.

Accordingly, the applicable male or female physical standard is determined with reference to that identity certificate rather than through a separate physical-standard table.

Medical Fitness Requirements

Clearing the height and chest measurements is not the only physical requirement. The recruitment rules also provide for medical examination of selected candidates. The medical assessment covers matters such as eyesight, colour recognition, knock-knee, flat foot and general physical fitness.

For eyesight, the prescribed unaided visual acuity is at least 6/9 in one eye and 6/12 in the other eye. Candidates are also required to be capable of distinguishing the main colours.

The physical standards should therefore be checked before treating written-exam eligibility as sufficient. A candidate may meet the age and educational requirements but still needs to satisfy the physical and medical conditions prescribed for appointment.

MP Police Constable Physical Efficiency Test (PET) 2026

The MP Police Constable Physical Efficiency Test 2026 consists of three events: an 800-metre run, long jump and shot put. Unlike recruitments where the physical test is only qualifying, performance in these events carries marks that contribute to the final selection.

The Physical Efficiency Test carries a total of 100 marks.

A candidate must secure at least 30 marks out of 100 in the PET.However, 30 marks should not be understood as a score that makes further performance irrelevant. The marks actually obtained in the physical test are used along with the first-stage examination score while preparing merit.

How the Three PET Events Are Conducted

The 800-metre run allows only one attempt, which makes the running event different from the other two components. Candidates get three attempts each for long jump and shot put, with performance assessed according to the scoring standards given in the recruitment rulebook.

The notification provides separate performance-to-marks tables rather than using a simple pass/fail benchmark for each event. Better performance can therefore produce a higher PET score.

The official rulebook contains a detailed marks table with different scores for different timings and distances. Therefore, candidates should not interpret the figures above as the only qualifying standards; they represent the lower end of the notification’s event-wise scoring table.

Home Guard and Ex-Servicemen Candidates

The rulebook also provides separate/relaxed PET scoring standards for the applicable Home Guard and Ex-Servicemen categories. Their physical performance should therefore be assessed against the relevant table in the notification rather than automatically applying the general PET scoring table.

Why PET Performance Can Change the Final Merit Position

A candidate who performs strongly in the written examination can still gain or lose ground during the physical stage because PET marks form part of the merit calculation. The recruitment rules describe a multi-stage normalization methodology in which the first-stage examination score is converted as prescribed before being combined with the physical/personal test score for preparing the merit list.

This is a more precise way to understand the process than simply treating the recruitment as a 100-mark written exam followed by a qualifying physical test.

Candidates do not need to treat every document as a formality to be arranged only after clearing the written examination. The recruitment rulebook specifically states that the relevant eligibility certificates must be available with the candidate by the prescribed cut-off date, while the required original documents have to be produced during document examination at the physical-test stage. 

Keep the Required Certificates Ready by the Cut-off Date

An important detail in the notification is the timing. Certificates relating to age and age relaxation, educational qualification, Home Guard/Ex-Servicemen status and the prescribed Certificate of Identity for transgender candidates must be possessed by 6 October 2026.

This means a candidate should not assume that a missing eligibility certificate can necessarily be obtained later simply because document verification takes place after the written examination.

Original Documents Are Required at the Physical Stage

The notification requires candidates to present the necessary original documents during the document examination held at the time of the physical stage.

The documents should support the information and benefits actually claimed in the application. For example, a candidate claiming Home Guard or Ex-Servicemen provisions needs the corresponding supporting certificate; the same principle applies to a candidate claiming an applicable age relaxation.

Aadhaar and Identity Verification

Candidates should also pay attention to the identity-verification requirements mentioned in the rulebook. Aadhaar registration is mandatory, and candidates are required to carry an acceptable original photo identity document for examination-related verification. The recruitment process also provides for multi-level biometric verification.

Candidates using Aadhaar should ensure that it is not kept locked when verification is required, as this can interfere with Aadhaar-based authentication.

The document stage is therefore not simply a check of educational certificates. It is the stage at which the department can verify whether the eligibility and special benefits claimed in the application are actually supported by the prescribed records.
