Two ways to split PDF pages
Use individual-page splitting when you need every page as a separate file. Use page ranges when you only need specific sections or want several groups of pages.
Every page separately
A 10-page source creates 10 one-page PDFs. This is convenient for forms, certificates, scanned records or distributing pages independently.
Specific page ranges
Enter items such as 1-4, 7, 10-12. Each comma-separated item becomes one output PDF containing those pages in order.
Page content stays PDF
The tool copies PDF pages into new documents. It does not intentionally render each page into a JPEG image, so text and vector content can remain intact.
Local processing
The selected PDF is read in your browser. The processing code does not upload its bytes to a conversion server, although the JavaScript library itself loads from a CDN.
How your document is handled
PDF.js-style rendering is not needed here. The browser reads your file and pdf-lib copies selected pages into newly generated PDF documents.
Privacy and local processing
The source PDF stays in the browser-side workflow used by this tool. Generated files are represented by temporary browser Blob URLs and those URLs are released when you reset the tool or leave the page.
What may not carry over
Extracted PDFs may not retain document-level features such as bookmarks, portfolio attachments, document-wide metadata or valid digital signatures. Keep your original PDF when those features matter.
Questions about splitting PDF files
How do I split a PDF into individual pages?
Choose your PDF, leave “Split every page” selected and click Split PDF. The tool creates a separate one-page PDF for every page in the source document.
How do page ranges work?
Select “Split by ranges” and enter comma-separated items such as 1-5, 8, 10-12. Each item becomes one output PDF containing the pages in that item.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
The splitting workflow in this version runs in your browser. The selected PDF bytes are not sent to a conversion server by the processing code, although the PDF library is loaded from an external CDN.
Will the split PDFs keep selectable text?
Pages are copied as PDF pages rather than intentionally rasterized into images, so selectable text and vector content can remain. Document-level features may not all carry into the new files.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
This version expects a PDF that the browser-side library can open directly. If the document requires an opening password, create an authorised unlocked copy first and then split that copy.
What happens to digital signatures?
Extracting pages into new PDF files changes the document structure and can invalidate document-level digital signatures. Keep the original signed PDF when verification matters.
