What metadata can this tool show?
It shows common fields such as title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, creation date, modification date, page count and whether an XMP metadata entry is present.
Does viewing metadata change the PDF?
No. The viewer only reads the PDF in your browser and does not create a modified copy.
Are my files uploaded?
The PDF bytes are read locally in your browser. The pdf-lib library loads from an external CDN, and site services are separate.
Can metadata be missing?
Yes. Many PDFs contain only some fields, while others contain no standard document properties at all.
What is XMP metadata?
XMP is a metadata format that can be embedded in a PDF separately from the traditional document information dictionary.
Does this show every hidden piece of information?
No. It is a document-property viewer, not a forensic analyzer. Content, comments, attachments, forms and other objects can contain additional information.
Can it read password-protected PDFs?
Use an authorized unlocked copy. This tool does not request or bypass passwords.
What are the file limits?
