How to convert PDF to Excel
Choose your PDFs
Select one or more files with selectable text and tables. Each PDF can be up to 25 MB.
Extract the tables
Click Convert to Excel. Keep this tab open while the tool processes each page.
Download and review
Save an .xlsx file for each converted PDF. Check the rows and columns in Excel.
Better results start with the right PDF
A PDF is designed to preserve a page, not a spreadsheet. This converter uses the position of existing text to estimate table cells. It is most useful for straightforward lists, invoices and reports where columns line up consistently.
Works best with
Selectable textText you can highlight in a PDF reader.
Simple tablesClear rows and regularly spaced columns.
Consistent layoutsSimilar column positions on each page.
Worth checking
Merged cellsMay split or need manual cleanup.
Page headersCan appear as additional table rows.
Number formatsDates and currencies need review.
How extraction works
PDF.js reads the text positions. Nearby text is grouped into rows and estimated columns, then SheetJS writes the workbook. Pages with usable rows are combined in one worksheet per PDF. Images, styling and formulas are not recreated.
What happens to your files
The converter processes document bytes in your browser. Conversion libraries load from external CDNs. Clear the file list when you finish; downloaded Excel files remain on your device. Website analytics and advertising are separate from this conversion process.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work with scanned PDFs?
Not directly. This converter reads text that already exists in a PDF; it does not include optical character recognition (OCR). If your PDF is an image-only scan, run OCR first and save a searchable PDF. A quick check: try selecting a line of text in your PDF reader.
Can I convert multiple PDFs at once?
Yes. Select several PDFs or drop them into the upload area. Each file can be up to 25 MB. The tool processes them one at a time and creates a separate .xlsx download for each successful conversion. Large documents may take longer, especially on a phone.
Will my table formatting be preserved?
The tool groups text by its position on the page to estimate rows and columns. It does not reproduce the original page design, fonts, charts or formulas. Simple tables usually need less cleanup than merged cells, wrapped text or irregular columns. Review the spreadsheet before relying on the results.
Where are my files processed?
This converter reads and processes the files in your browser and does not send the document bytes to a conversion server. It loads conversion libraries from external CDNs. The surrounding website, analytics and any advertising have their own data practices; refer to the website’s privacy policy for those details.
What should I check in my Excel file?
Compare the output with the PDF. Check column alignment, repeated headers, missing rows, totals, decimal separators, dates and leading zeros. Extracted values are stored as text to avoid guessing data types; apply number or date formats in Excel after reviewing them.
Why does the tool say no usable table text was found?
The PDF may contain scanned images, a single column of text, or a layout that cannot be grouped into table rows. Check that text is selectable and that the source has at least two aligned columns. Password-protected files must be unlocked before conversion.
